Preparation

Wash raw rice, soak them in water for 3/4 hour and grind well
It should be softer than the dough we make for dosa
Add salt and mix the rest of the ingredients
Roll out the dough on Vadaka thattu/maker. (If you do not have a vadaka maker, put oil on a small steel plate and pour a tablespoon of dough and spread it flat and steam it in an idli pot. You have to do it one by one) Then place it in a cloth or plastic wrap and dry in the sun (can be dried indoors as well)
Then fry in oil and make vadakam
Please note, heat oil well before frying and be careful
Note: If required, add Asafoetida, 2 pinches of chilli powder and pepper powder depending on your taste. If the preparation is using an Idli pot, make sure you only pour one spoon of dough at a time. You may use small steel plates or plantain leaf in the idly pot to make the vadakam.
