100 gms powdered sugar
100 gms butter
2 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp baking powder
100 gms all purpose flour (maida)
2 egg whites
1 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp hot water
For the frosting:

300 ml whipping cream
½ cup powdered sugar
200 gms cream cheese
½ Tsp vanilla essence
For the chocolate ganache:
100 ml whipping cream
150 gms dark chocolate (grated)
Preparation
Pre-heat the oven to 180°C
In a bowl, beat the powdered sugar and butter
Add the egg yolks and beat well
Add the vanilla essence and keep beating the mixture
Pass the all purpose flour and baking powder together through a sieve
Beat the egg whites well
Add the sieved all purpose flour and beaten egg whites consecutively into the egg yolk-butter mixture and fold well
Melt the cocoa powder in the hot water
Save some of the sieved all purpose flour and add the melted cocoa into it and fold well
In a greased cake tin, pour the vanilla flavoured batter and cocoa flavoured batter consecutively
Make patterns using a tooth pick for the 'marble' effect
Bake it in the pre-heated oven for 20 minutes
For the frosting, ground the Maltesers into a crumble
In a bowl add the whipping cream, powdered sugar and cream cheese and beat well
Add the vanilla essence and beat again
Transfer this into a piping bag and keep it in the fridge
For the chocolate ganache, heat the whipping cream with the double boiling method
Add the grated chocolate and stir until it is melted completely
The chocolate ganache should have a smooth and silky consistency
Pipe the frosting above the first layer of cake
Place the next layer on top of it
Pour the chocolate ganache over it and smoothen out its edges
Sprinkle the crumbled maltesers on top of the cake (Instead of crumbles, whole maltesers can be arranged in beautiful patterns over the cake)
Decorate with chocolate strips or tuiles.
