Monsoon, or more importantly, Karkidakam is a period for cleansing and rejuvenating the body. A holistic health-based approach is advised by experts during this 'period of diseases and suffering.'
It is imperative that we maintain a healthy diet, that could not only keep harm out of the way, but also help in boosting overall immunity.
Good for everybody
According to Ayurveda, Bhojan or food is generally classified into three on the basis of 'gunas,' namely, Satwa, Rajas, and Thamas. Rajasika food often refers to spicy, dry and pungent food that could sometimes cause inflammation. Thamasika food is more of non-vegetarian diet, that has a certain sedating effect. They are said to be detrimental to the human body, often causing mental dullness.
Satwik diet is something that keeps the Thridosha's - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha - in equilibrium.
This Satwik Bhojan, a healthy platter put together by Ajeeth Janardhanana, executive chef, and Dr. Anitha Manoj, assistant spa manager at the Raviz Resort and Spa, Ashtamudi, Kollam, would help you give a delicious makeover to the monsoon diet.
