Kalpana was an actress who always sprung a surprise on her audience. She conjured the same magic as she left the mortal world leaving behind a void that no one can fill, very much like the character of Mariya she played in the film Charlie, her latest released flick. The film depicts Mariya vanishing from a dhow in the middle of the sea during the night.
Mariya, in a way, reflected the depth in the acting prowess of the gifted artiste, and also the turmoil that had been riling the human in Kalpana. Though the episode was short, it had a profundity that delved into fathoms of artistic brilliance. Mariya's visage and disposition presented the pathos that naturally instilled a discomfort deep inside. It was so artistic that one hardly notices the internal disturbance the character evoked.
