Aju Varghese has been able to reserve a space for himself in the minds of Malayalam movie goers this year. His roles have been diverse and he has created a niche in Malayalam films.
Happy and contended
Many of my films caught the attention of the viewers this year. I am a very normal person, so I feel good and do not have much ambition. I am not overjoyed. I am happy that I could entertain viewers.
Plans for 2016
I have no resolutions for the New Year and as with each year, I have to call Nedumudi Venu and seek his blessings on New Year day. I need to act in some good films, that's all. I have no plans to end acting in comedies.
Director's boy
That my characters are getting noticed is because the director of all my films were good. I am a director's boy and give what is asked from me. I am being noticed because I worked with some good directors and script writers, not because of my talents.
Still diffident
I am still diffident because five years is not a long duration in films. I feel I am still a newbie. I am still a good viewer of good films who is under the shadow of good directors.
Vineet, a school
I never wanted to be an actor. Vineet was my classmate and when he made a film, he invited me to act. He taught me how to learn and act professionally without sacrificing personal bonds. Malarwady Arts Club created a family and it is still in my life.
I was afraid while acting with Dileep because he is very talented and I was afraid whether I would make mistakes.
I believe in pure entertainment and I believe that those who spend Rs 100 on a ticket must at least get Rs 50 back. That yardstick made my performance in the last year appealing. I think I can entertain people and that brings happiness to me.
Producers, who make films believing a director and a script writer, are gods to me. I respect them a lot and feel that they should not be tricked. I believe in films that have morals and the ones which flow with the society, not something that negates it. I love films that respect culture. I had acted in many short films before coming to mainstream cinema and I am happy that most people with whom I worked with have made a name for themselves in films.
If my characters were a success, it is because of the skill of the makeup man. I can never thank them enough for making my characters realistic.
Even though I have come to Dubai to assist Vineet in a film, there is no director in me. I needed an excuse to spend some nice time in Dubai. Since the producer is a classmate, the whole setup looks like a get-together, that's all.
