Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala's COVID-19 Test Positivity Rate dropped to 15.97 per cent on Sunday after 19,894 new infections were reported from testing 1,24,537 samples.
The number of active patients also came down to 2,23,727 after recording 29,013 recoveries in 24 hours.
The state confirmed 186 more deaths due to COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the death toll to 8,641. Though more deaths were reported, the state is yet to ascertain them as COVID deaths. Tests are underway at the National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha.
Of the new cases, 18,571 had contracted the virus through contact while 186 had come from outside the state. Among the contact cases, the source of infection of 1,083 is yet to be traced. There are 84 health workers also among Sunday's new infections.
The state has reported 25,14,279 COVID-19 infections so far. Of this, 22,81,518 recovered.

Testing and Quarantine
Till Sunday, 1,97,06,583 samples (including routine, airport surveillance, pooled sentinel, CBNAAT, TrueNAT, CLIA and antigen assay) were sent for testing.
A total of 8,19,417 people are under observation across the state. Of them, 7,80,842 are under home or institutional quarantine while 38,575 are in hospitals. A total of 3,366 people were admitted in hospitals on Sunday.
Eight regions have been designated as hotspots on Sunday, taking the total number of hotspots to 887.
