Kozhikode: The ocean lovers are eagerly waiting for the regal 'Cleopatra' to arrive at the historic coasts of Kozhikode. From next month onwards, tourists can take a ride to the seas, enjoying the amazing waves, on Cleopatra. The ferry boat named Cleopatra, owned by the Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation, will be brought to Kozhikode from Kochi, by a private company. The boat which ran services between Vaikom and Kochi has been docked for the last 10 months. The boat will reach Kozhikode overcoming a decision to be transferred to Alappuzha, to aid its tourism sector.
'Cleopatra,' certified by the Indian Registration of Shipping, was taken over by a Kozhikode based private company with the approval of the state government. Hundrend passengers can be comfortably accommodated in Cleopatra. It is likely that the Cleopatra's services would be operated from the jetty near the Beypore stone bridge, which will be renovated soon. The boat can run trips up to 4-5 km into the sea within the Kozhikode sea limit. It can even operate services through the Chaliyar lake when the sea gets rough.
