Ganesh apologised after talks with the family at the Nair Service Society's (NSS) taluk union office at Pathanapuram.

Anchal, Kollam: K B Ganesh Kumar MLA on Sunday apologised to the family of Ananthakrishnan, whom he had assaulted recently for not giving way for his car.

The actor-turned-legislator regretted the incident and said he would not repeat such a behaviour. Ganesh apologised after talks with the family at the Nair Service Society's (NSS) taluk union office at Pathanapuram.

The closed-door meeting was led by Ganesh's father and former minister R Balakrishna Pillai, who is also the president of the NSS taluk union. The meeting was attended by Ananthakrishnan's mother Sheena and their relatives and office-bearers of the NSS union.

Sheena said they were ready to withdraw the complaint against Ganesh as he apologised, going by their demand. A complaint filed by Ganesh's aide against Ananthakrishnan will also be withdrawn in the wake of the compromise. Ananthakrishnan, an engineering graduate, was charged by the Anchal police under non-bailable offences based on the complaint. Ananthakrishnan was charged with blocking an MLA in the street and assaulting him.

Ganesh had moved for a compromise with the family after a court recorded Sheena's confidential statement that could harm him. Ananthakrishnan and Sheena had insisted that a compromise was possible only if the MLA offered a public or a written apology.

The allegation is that Ganesh and his driver assaulted Ananthakrishnan and showered abuses on his mother just because the 20-year-old youth did not give way to the MLA's car at Agasthyacode around 1.30 pm on June 13. According to Sheena's statement to the court, Ganesh had grabbed her arm and showered abuses.

Ganesh had been repeatedly claiming innocence, and made the claim even in the state assembly. He alleged that the whole incident was blown up by a hostile media.
