Kerala MLA Ganesh, driver assault youth over vehicle space

K B Ganesh Kumar Kumar, a minister in the previous UDF government, had retained his Pathanapuram legislative assembly seat with the support of the LDF in the 2016 election.

Kollam: K B Ganesh Kumar, MLA, and his driver allegedly assaulted a youth near Anchal here on Wednesday for not making way for his car.

Ananthakrishnan, 22, was hospitalised as he suffered injuries in the attack. He was reportedly assaulted in front of his mother.

The MLA was proceeding in his car to a house to where a death had occurred. Ananthakrishnan and his mother were returning from the same house. The legislator, who was enraged as his vehicle could not move forward, got off his car and assaulted the youth. Soon, his driver also joined the attack.

Ananthakrishnan was rushed to the Government Hospital at Anchal and later shifted to a private hospital.

Kumar, a former minister in the UDF government, had retained his Pathanapuram legislative assembly seat with the support of the LDF in the 2016 election. The actor-turned-politician is the son of former minister and Kerala Congress (B) chief R Balakrishna Pillai.

Ganesh was not available for comment.
