Jayaraj and his family, who is settled in Indonesia, decided to build a modern and chic abode in their hometown in Kerala as their old ancestral home had congested spaces and lacked facilities. The nearby plot that Jayaraj inherited as the ancestral property was raised to the level of the road before the construction began.

Architect Vysakh of Pravega Associates based in Payyanur was roped in to design their dream abode. Interestingly, the owner saw his house for the first time, only when he came here for the housewarming ceremony. His wife too could visit the site only once before flying down for the ceremony. From laying the foundation stone to the finishing touches on the structure, the family communicated with the architects mainly through WhatsApp calls and video calls.

The front yard is paved with interlocking tiles to grant a neat look. A well too has been arranged on the front side.

The interiors aren’t loaded with any designer gimmicks as the family doesn’t live here throughout the year. Jayaraj’s old parents live in the nearby ancestral house. So, the interiors have been designed to make maintenance hassle-free.

The custom-made furniture pieces perfectly suit the general theme of the house. The majestic elegance of Rajasthan marble flooring is incredible. Meanwhile, the gypsum false ceiling and the LED light fittings add an enchanting ambience to the interiors.

The dining table crafted in mahogany has an artificial marble table top. The GI hand railings of the staircase are simple.

The kitchen cabinets are done in plywood with a laminate finish. The countertop, meanwhile, has been paved with quartz. An adjacent work area completes the modern kitchen.

There are two bedrooms each on both floors. The bath-attached bedrooms have in–built wardrobes for storage.

The construction of this house had progressed during the pandemic days. So, it got stalled quite a few times. The furnishing expenses have unexpectedly gone up as the price of materials skyrocketed. However, the family is happy and relieved that they have finally moved into their brand-new house.
