Jinu Jose, a native of Pulinkunnu, is a bank employee in Mumbai. However, it was at his mother’s hometown in Koothrapally where he bought 10 cents plot to build his dream dwelling. Architect Srikant Pangapad was roped in to design a beautiful house with three bedrooms and other modern facilities.
The plot is longer to the north – south direction and narrower to the east – west direction. The house whose entrance faces the east is smartly designed by taking advantage of the unique features of the plot. One could enter the long sit-out from the car porch itself.
The entrance door leads to the formal living area which is extremely cozy and elegantly decked up. The family living area and the dining spaces are arranged in the spacious hall which is the liveliest spot in the house. The prayer area is arranged at one end of this hall. Meanwhile, the TV unit / entertainment area is at the other end.
The custom made dining table is definitely the most attractive feature of the dining space cum family living area. However, this vast hall makes the house look incredibly spacious and huge. The high French windows bring lots of natural sun shine and cool breeze into the house.
The three spacious bedrooms are bath attached. Besides the kitchen, an adjacent work area and a utility space too have been arranged in this house which has an area of 1885 sqft.
Truss work is installed above the flat roof and is paved with Thrissur roofing tiles. The space between the flat roof and the truss work has been converted into storage cum utility area. There is a staircase built outside the house to climb to the terrace.
Jinu says that the guests are super impressed by the simple and smart design of his brand new house. He admits he feels proud and elated when he is congratulated for building such a beautiful and cost-effective house.
