Bibin’s brand-new house in the serene countryside of Aranattukara in Thrissur, Kerala, is a contemporary abode that is in sync with the unique layout of the plot. The 6.5-cent rectangular plot was quite a challenge for the designers. The new house was constructed after dismantling the family’s old house.

So, lots of materials, including the roofing tiles, could be reused. The structure is built by leaving ample space in the front to suit the layout of the plot. Meanwhile, the contemporary flat-box elevation is simple yet classy. Despite building the house on a small plot, the structure has left the legal setback.

The interiors are open to make the spaces look vaster. As unnecessary walls have been avoided, you can get a fabulous view of the interiors, including the kitchen, as soon as the entrance door is opened. Designed in 1,750 sqft, the beautiful house has a car porch, sit-out, living area, dining space, kitchen with an adjacent work area and three bedrooms.

A sliding door in the dining area opens to the patio. The wall here has been built at a height to make this area an integral part of the house. Now, this cosy patio space is the family’s favourite spot.

One bedroom is on the ground floor, and two are on the upper floor. The modern kitchen has stylish cabinets made of multi-wood. The smart choice of building materials played a pivotal role in keeping the expenses under control. Timber is used sparingly, and steel doors are mostly used in the interiors. Meanwhile, the windows are made of UPVC. The construction of this amazing abode, including the structure and furnishing, was completed on a budget of Rs 49 lakh.
