This Kottayam house is a perfect gift of expatriate life

The exteriors of the house exude elegance of contemporary architecture style.

Every Malayali who flies abroad toils hard and gets motivated by the dream of building a house of his or her own. Tony, a native of Kottayam, too had dreamed of constructing an house ever since he completed his studies. He began his efforts dream from the time he started his life as an expatriate. Tony did his share of home works about the various aspects of constructing a house. However, he soon realized that things weren’t as easy as he thought. It was then that he contacted a builders firm from a Facebook group.

The triangular shape of the plot was the biggest challenge while designing the house. Tarred roads run through both sides of the plot at Karapuzha which is 2 kilometers away from the Kottayam town in Kerala. The structure is built 3 meters way from the road as per the regulations. Tony says that the area of the plot further decreased after this. This plot was flooded years ago and it was found marshy after digging a meter deep, while it was being readied for the construction. The surface of the plot was then hardened by spreading sand and bricks.

The exteriors emanate the elegance of the contemporary architecture style. An amazing blend of flat and slope roofs is the highlight. A classy colour combination of off-white and rosewood shade adorns the house. A part of the exterior wall is highlighted using black stone claddings. Living and dining spaces, kitchen and three bedrooms are arranged in this beautiful house which has an area of 1560 sq ft.

Vitrified tiles in matte finish are paved on the floor. The TV unit, done in multi-wood, is decorated with cladding tiles. The stainless steel handrails of the stairway look elegant. The dining table is arranged beside the stairway utilizing the spaces.

Tony built a modular kitchen with all the facilities. All the cupboards in the kitchen are made of multi-wood. The bright benz red colour of the cupboards makes the kitchen incredibly attractive.

Two bedrooms are bath-attached and there is a common toilet as well. Wardrobes are arranged in all the bedrooms. Though there were concerns about space, false ceiling too is done as Tony didn’t want to compromise on the stylish look of the house.

Elegant LED lighting enhances the pleasant look of the interiors. The construction of the house was completed in 10 months. Tony and his family are thrilled that they have finally accompliished their dream.
