Maiden Coldplay X BTS collab single My Universe is out and you can't help but to 'put it first'

Love sure brings people together, so does music. When you put those together, you would get 'My Universe', a legendary collaboration by two musical icons of this century – Coldplay and BTS.

The British rock band along with the South Korean septet released their first ever collab on Friday, September 24, much to the joy of their two fandoms Coldplayers and ARMY.

The upbeat pop-rock track brings melds the unique musical styles of both groups to make something extraordinarily beautiful.

The track, sung in both English and Korean, was written by Coldplay and BTS rappers and produced by Max Martin.

Opening with the heavenly vocals of Coldplay lead vocalist Chris Martin, the song quickly proceeds to the honey voice of BTS' Jungkook singing Hangul lines. There's no need to second guess the molten chocolate like voice of V that follows. From there, RM and Jimin takes over with their highly contrasting pitches making an absolute blend. But what surprises most is a low register by Jin singing the line "make my world light up inside". Now that's something we don't get to listen to every day.

Though it was originally a Coldplay song, it is clear both the parties carried it together. The rap parts, quintessential elements to any OT7 BTS song, further proves this. What makes it even beautiful is that most of the rap is in Korean, ensuring BTS has given a piece of their soul to this collab.

For BTS and ARMY, My Universe could be regarded as an extension of the celestial, comforting agenda of earlier songs Mikrokosmos, Heartbeat, and Magic Shop.

For months, speculations were rife over a collaboration between the groups. In all honesty, we should have seen this coming when they covered Coldplay's Fix You at on MTV Unplugged earlier this year, earning quite a headnod from the former.

With Chris paying a visit to South Korean capital Seoul in April, Twitter was on fire. However, few weeks ago, Coldplay's official handle announced collab, followed by a Tik Tok video showing him jamming with BTS to the song.

Chris admitted to a talk show recently that the song was originally was made only for BTS but the artists ended up performing it together.

According to a schedule shared by Coldplay, a documentary on the project will be released soon, followed by a Supernova7 mix and acoustic version of the song on Sunday, as well as an official music video, directed by Dave Meyers, for which the schedule has not been revealed yet.

The song is the second promotional single from Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres. The lead single of the album, Higher Power, was released earlier this year.

This is the third major single by BTS, following chart-topping Butter and Permission to Dance.

Along with Chris Martin, Coldplay consists of lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion, and creative director Phil Harvey. The seven members of BTS are thier leader and rapper RM, rappers SUGA and J-Hope, vocalists Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook.

Tailpiece:

Ever since the song was out, Twitter has been in awe over the supposedly "whale sounds" included in the song. Though Onmanorama could not verify this, the odd deep sound heard in the song at parts could very well be a whale song. It makes more sense when you think about the concept of the "lonely whale" BTS often used in their works. Ever since they released the single Whalien 52, the band and the fandom has been bringing the idea of the 52-hertz whale into their concepts. Do you think it's a whale song that's heard in the track?
