Cheruthoni: With the new lockdown guidelines in place, the tourist centres in Idukki have finally reopened. Ever since the District Tourism Promotion Council gave its green signal, some of the major tourist centres in Idukki are already seeing a surge in tourists.
From today, the tourist spots will start functioning at their full capacity according to Kerala DTPC Secretary PS Girish. He also stressed that the tourists and workers will have to follow strict Covid protocols.
Idukki Hillview Park, Idukki Park, Mattupetty Botanical Garden, Munnar Boating Centre, Ramackalmedu, Panchalimedu, Vagamon Mottakunnu, Adventure Park, Aruvikuzhi are some of the major tourist spots under the Tourism Promotion Council. Malankara Tourist Hub and Kolukkumala are also under the DTPC jurisdiction.
In the wake of increasing Covid-19 cases, all tourism destinations in the district had shut down temporarily in May.
Covid protocols will be strict
The ones who are in charge of each Kendra should at least had a shot of vaccine and the duration should be two weeks old. Crowds won’t be encouraged at ticket counters or such places. Either the visitors should produce a negative RTPCR test, or 2-week-old one-shot vaccine certificate or fully vaccinated certificate.
