Kochi: The Kochi-Muziris Biennale would be held in line with the COVID-19 norms mandated by both the Centre and state governments, the organisers have said. The Biennale is usually held in December.
The advisory committee meet decided to go ahead with the Biennale as per the instructions of the governments and Indian Medical Association.
"After evaluating the COVID-19 situation next month, we will make a decision on whether the Biennale has to be postponed," said director Bose Krishnamachari. He, however, exuded hope that they would not have to postpone the event.
The Biennale is slated to be held in various parts of Kochi from December 12 to April 10, 2021. Known for the art exhibits, seminars, and workshops, the Biennale is credited with putting Kochi on the international art circuit.
Installations would be arranged such that social distancing norms can be duly followed. Preference would be given for physical installations. But the organisers are also checking other possibilities via Google, Facebook, and Instagram.
