Nileswaram: The Kerala Agricultural University and the department of tourism have joined hands to develop a riverside park in Nidunganda opposite Thottam junction on the national highway. The project will be executed on the boundary of Neeleswaram and Kanjangadu municipalities on the banks of Nileswaram River.
The project envisions a mini resort with 16 rooms to accommodate guests. It would also set up peddle boating services in the river, rain shelter, children’s park, mini conference hall, outlets to exhibit, and sell organically produced agricultural goods and heritage articles.
A detailed plan has been drawn to execute the project on the 2.50 acres owned by the agricultural university at an estimated expense of Rs 7.75 crore. This project comes as part of the proposals of the Prabhakaran Commission which had drafted the Kasaragod package.
A signed agreement has already been sent to the agricultural university in this regard by the district collector who is also the chairman of the District Tourism Promotion Council.
Once this project gets executed, it will significantly improve the tourism scope of the district. The project will begin as soon as the district administration receives the consent from the university.
