Vypin Island, Ernakulam: The aqua tourism centre at Njarackal here will soon get a face-lift as it readies for the tourist arrivals during the Onam holidays. Besides the renovation works, landscaping too would be done to make the centre look more striking. The refurbished centre will be ready to welcome visitors by the Onam holidays.
The revamp project mainly focuses on renovating the cafeteria to suit the preferences of the tourists. A new air-conditioned restaurant too would be opened on the first floor. The small rooms in the building will be turned into family rooms. At the main eatery, lunch with various fish delicacies would be served as usual. Meanwhile the menu at the new first-floor restaurant will be diverse, catering to the different tastes of the tourists who visit the centre. Besides various non-vegetarian foods, Kerala’s unique breakfast dishes like 'appam' and 'idiyappam' too would be served at the restaurant.
Buffet meals would be served in the backdrop of a beautiful garden.
Presently only a few coconut trees comprise the ‘greenery’ here. Authorities said that the landscaping works would be completed before the monsoon season ends. They added that more number of trees and other flora would be planted around the centre, starting from the sides of the road that leads to the aqua tourism centre.
The small huts constructed on the surface of the water at the fish farm draws lots of tourists even during the off season. Considering the demand for more such structures, tree houses would be constructed on the island in the fish farm, said farm manager Nisha.
