Shashi Tharoor MP created a stir in social media recently by tweeting the 29-letter word floccinaucinihilipilification.
Anyhow, many people who were hearing the word for the first time saw their vocabulary becoming richer. Though a number of people were flummoxed, the meaning of the extremely long word is simple. It means, ‘the action of estimating something as worthless.’
Soon after the word became viral on social media, numerous trolls based on it followed.
Surprises regarding floccinaucinihilipilification do not end there. Now, several videos have appeared on the social media showing small kids pronouncing the word. Most of the youngsters are girls who handle the word as if it were literally child’s play!
The videos have been shared by the parents of the children themselves. One performance did catch Tharoor’s eye and he commented, “How cute is this child. I wonder whether I myself could pronounce this word at her age.”
Another young girl child utters the word with the statement, “Shashi Tharoor uncle, I’ve finally learnt how to pronounce the word.”
It is evident that Tharoor is very much impressed over the children’s performance. The former diplomat and writer had used word in a tweet regarding his new book titled ‘The Paradoxical Prime Minister’. The work is on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
