KSRTC bus catches fire in Kochi, no casualties

Kochi: An AC low-floor bus of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation caught fire at Chittoor Road here on Monday. No casualties were reported. The fire brigade reached the spot and doused the flames.

The incident happened at Iyyattilmukku Junction near Chittoor here around 3 pm. The bus from Ernakulam was on its way to Thodupuzha. The vehicle was completely destroyed in the fire. Prima facie, the cause of the fire is a technical fault. A detailed probe is underway. 

The bus driver said he could stop the vehicle and evacuate the passengers safely because the hazard system promptly went off when the fire broke out. There were 21 passengers on the bus.
