Kochi: In an effort to raise awareness about COVID-19 and how it could spread, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) have come up with a novel solution – getting robots to do most of the talking.
Two robots are part of this program. They were developed by Asimov Robotics, a startup incubated at KSUM's Kochi campus.
While one robot distributes masks, sanitisers and napkins, the other plays the World Health Organization's (WHO) campaign video on its screen.
“The robots have been employed to spread more awareness about the COVID-19 and encourage people to follow the precautionary measures as directed by the state,” Asimov CEO Jayakrishnan T said in a statement.
Employing the robots for the awareness have certainly caught the attention of the public, and considering the propensity of the virus to spread through human contact, is also very ideal.
According to a statement by KSUM, more robots will be installed at public places. All startups being incubated at KSUM, too, were being given health guidelines in the context of coronavirus.
KSUM, founded in 2006, is a nodal agency of the Kerala government for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.
Six more positive cases have been reported in Kerala on Monday. In wake of this, the Health Department has stepped up surveillance and monitoring. At the moment, 1116 individuals are under observation in various parts of Kerala.
Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja had warned that strict action will be taken against individuals who wilfully disobey the directives as issued by the Health Department.
