Thiruvananthapuram: Amid the row over alleged examination malpractices in which the leaders of the Students Federation of India (SFI) is embroiled, it has come to light that a couple of them who cleared a police recruitment test conducted by the Public Service Commission fared poorly in the university examination which is under a cloud.
R Sivarenjith, the main accused in the University College stabbing case and the first-rank holder in the PSC civil police officer exam, couldn't clear one paper -- MA Philosophy -- of the Kerala University's first-semester examination despite appearing twice.
A N Nazeem, the 28th rank-holder in the police rank list and second accused in the college stabbing case, too has failed in his two attempts to clear the MA Philosophy first-semester exam.
This dubious academic record of the duo raises suspicions over the police rank list.
Shockingly, Sivarenjith got zero marks in the Logic written paper for the first semester. After adding internal marks, the total came to 6 out of 100. Other results include 4 for Classical Indian Philosophy, 6.5 for Western Philosophy - Ancient, Medieval and Modern, and 39 for Moral Philosophy. When he appeared again for these exams, he got 12, 3.5, and 46.5 respectively. He got 13 marks in the Logic exam in his second attempt.
To clear a paper, one needs 50 out of 100, including internal marks. In the second semester, he got 52 marks in Philosophical Counselling - Indian and Western paper after adding 15 internal marks. Though he got 15 internal marks for the paper on Kant and Hegel, he could manage only 35.5 in total.
Nazeem has taken readmission for MA Philosophy. For the first semester, he got 41 marks for Classical Indian Philosophy, 45 marks for Western Philosophy - Ancient and Medieval, 53 marks for Logic and 18 for Moral Philosophy. For Logic, he got 10 internal marks.
When he reappeared for the first semester exams in January, Nazeem got 9 marks in Classical Indian Philosophy, 59.5 marks in Western Philosophy - Ancient and Medieval, 41 marks for Moral philosophy and 15 marks for internal examination in Western Philosophy.
Internal marks are granted by the teachers.
