Head of Jacobite Syrian Church in Kerala from May 24 to 27

Nedumbasseri: His Holiness Ignatius Aphrem II, the patriarch of the Jacobite Syrian Church, will visit Kerala from May 24 to 27. This is his third official visit to Kerala.

Landing at the Kochi International Airport at 9 am, he will head to Kumarakom after reception, the itinerary states.

His Holiness will pray at the tomb of Ignatius Elias III at Manjinikkara Dayara at 3 pm and consecrate the new building there at 3.30 pm.

The patriarch will preside over a public meeting at 6 pm and stay overnight at Manjinikkara Dayara, a monastery of the Church, near Omallur, in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district.

He will hold a mass at the cathedral at Manjinikkara at 8 am the next day, May 25. At 3 pm, he will attend the Episcopal conference and meeting of the managing committee and visit Malekurish Dayara and consecrate the new retreat house.

Ignatius Aphrem II will hold a mass at Malekurish Dayara, near Puthenkurishu in Ernakulam District, at 8.15 the next morning (May 26). He will attend matrimonial services at 11 am and 3 pm.

He will return to Malekurish Dayara (St. George Monastery) at 6 pm after an event at the St George Syrian Simhasana Church at Pampra, near Mulanthuruthy, in Ernakulam district.

The patriarch will return to Syria at 10.30 am on May 27.

Ignatius Aphrem II is the 123rd Patriarch of Antioch.

The Jacobite Syrian Church of India, Iraq, and Syria recognise the Patriarch of Antioch as its spiritual head.
