Kannur: Bharatiya Janata Party state general secretary K Surendran remains in jail despite securing bail in one of the cases against him. The Kannur Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court granted him bail in an old case in which he was charged with threatening a police officer through a Facebook post. The cop was allegedly threatened for interrogating RSS activist Subheesh, who is an accused in the murder of NDF activist Muhammad Fasal.
Surendran will on Monday approach the Pathanamthitta Sessions Court for bail in a case linked to the tensions in Sabarimala. He remains locked up because the Ranni First-Class Magistrate's Court had denied him bail in this case.
He has been accused of a conspiracy to create trouble in Sabarimala ahead of the opening of the temple for Chithira Atta rituals.
Surendran alleged that fresh false cases are being foisted on him as soon as he gets bail in one case. “The police is enforcing double standards of justice. They are resorting to serious violation of human rights,” he said in Kozhikode.
Surendran was taken from Kottarakara sub jail to Kozhikode district jail on Sunday night, and to Kannur on Monday morning.
