Dileep trying to delay trial, says govt opposing CBI probe

Kochi: The state government has opposed the petition moved by actor Dileep before the Kerala High Court seeking a CBI probe into the actress assault case.

The prosecution argued that Dileep was making an attempt to prolong the trial in the case, in which the charge sheet has already been filed. However, the court decided to send notices to the CBI and the other parties. It said that the government and the CBI should make their stand clear while considering the case again on July 4.

Dileep, in his petition, alleged that he was charged in the case based on the false statements of the main accused. According to the actor, he neither had any knowledge about the incident nor any role.

He said that to unearth the truth, the probe should be carried out by an independent agency over which the state police had no control.

Dileep said that top police officers, including the DGP, had investigated the case in a partial manner and had vested interests.
