Divya Iyer case: Land revenue commissioner 'delays' report, minister livid

It was alleged that the subcollector's decision was at the behest of her husband and MLA K S Sabarinadhan.

Thiruvananthapuram: An inquiry report into Thiruvananthapuram subcollector Divya S Iyer's controversial transfer of land to a private individual at Varkala has been delayed.

Though two days have passed since the revenue minister sought the report, the land revenue commission is yet to submit it. The minister is reportedly unhappy with this.

A controversy erupted after Divya handed over a piece of land taken over by the tahsildar along the State Highway at Aiyoor village in Varkala to a private individual.

It was alleged that the subcollector's decision was at the behest of her husband and MLA K S Sabarinadhan. The revenue minister ordered the inquiry on a complaint filed by Varkala MLA V Joy.

Though the land revenue commissioner was asked to file the report by Monday evening, it was not submitted even on Tuesday. The land revenue commissioner is of the view that he has to study the tahsildar's report. The CPM too had sought action against the subcollector citing irregularities in the land transfer.

There are allegations that the delay in submitting the report is aimed at shielding Divya S Iyer, thus inviting the wrath of the revenue minister.
