Thiruvananthapuram: Soon after TV reports said that a controversial song from the Malayalam film Oru Adaar Love will be removed, the makers have clarified that the song will not be withdrawn from YouTube.
The makers had first reportedly decided to remove the the teaser song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' from YouTube, after a police case was filed in Hyderabad for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The overwhelming support for the song reportedly forced the makers to have a rethink over withdrawing it.
"For now, we have decided not to remove the song from YouTube. Yet to make a final decision on whether to include the song in the movie," music director Shaan Rahman said.
Director Omar Lulu said that the makers had never meant to hurt anyone and that the song had no objectionable reference.
"The song written by C M A Jabbar is sung during marriages and every celebration in Malabar region of north Kerala. We have changed only its music and not the lyrics," he said.
The teaser of the song featuring actor Priya Prakash Varrier has gone viral on social media sites. Oru Adaar Love is a romantic comedy and has Siyadh Shahjahan and Noorin Shereef sharing space with Priya. The film is expected to be released by June end.
