Three Keralites to get Param Vishisht Seva medal

Vice-chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Sarath Chand, commander-in-Chief Lt Gen Cherish Mathson, south-western army command and air marshal Chandrashekharan Harikumar.

New Delhi: Three Keralites - vice-chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Sarath Chand, commander-in-Chief Lt Gen Cherish Mathson, south-western army command and air marshal Chandrashekharan Harikumar - will receive the president's Param Vishisht Seva Medal. The Sena Medal for Gallantry will be awarded to major Vipul Narayanan (grenadiers) and Havildar Jalil Ahmed.

In the Army, Sena Medals were accorded to Keralites: major general Jacob Tharakan (AOC), colonel Anil John Alfred Pereira (SIGS), colonel Rakesh Nair (GR), colonel Meleveetil Ranjiv Menon (Madras regiment) and colonel Ashok Paliyath Achyuthan (Sikh regiment).

Vishisht Seva Medals went to major general M L Mohan Babu (Artillery), major general Suresh Menon (SIGS), brigadier Arun Anathanarayanan (Grenadiers), brigadier Vinod Mohan Chandran (ARMD), brigadier Michael Fernandes (Engineers), colonel V Suresh Kumar (Bihar), Lt colonel Sushma Thomas (MNS).

Air Force

Group captain Thulasi Rukmini Ravi received a Vayu Sena Medal. Vishisht Seva Medals were awarded to air commodore Venugopal Vijayan Menon, group captain Pankajakshan Sajeev Nair and group captain Parameswaran Sreekumar.

Navy

The head of Kochi's southern naval command, vice-admiral A R Karve, also received a Param Vishisht Seva Medal. Rear admiral M D Suresh was awarded an Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. Commodore G Prakash from the Kochi base and commodore Swaminathan Rajakumar received the Nao Sena Medal. Commodore Vikram Menon, commodore K M Ramakrishnan, commodore C S Baburaj and captain Arun Dev Nair received Vishisht Seva Medals.
