Kottayam: Keralite Sibi George has been appointed the ambassador of India to Switzerland.
A 1993 batch IFS officer, George is presently the joint secretary in the ministry of external affairs.
A native of Pala in Kottayam, George has also served as deputy chief of mission of Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia and Iran. He has also worked in Egypt, Qatar, Pakistan and USA. He is also a recipient of S.K. Singh Award for excellence in IFS.
He is expected to take up his assignment shortly.
