Kochi: A court in Angamaly on Monday rejected the bail plea of Malayalam actor Dileep, arrested for his alleged involvement in the February 17 actress attack.

The court concurred with the prosecution's argument that the probe was in the last stage and the popular actor could influence witnesses if let out on bail.

In his fourth bail plea, the actor requested the court to grant him bail as he has been accused of conspiracy alone.

He had moved the Kerala High Court twice too and Angamaly court once, but failed to get any relief.

He said the only case against him was that he hired Pulsar Suni, the prime accused, to capture nude photographs of the victim. He also pointed out that his remand period has passed over 60 days and that the investigation into it was over.

The actress was waylaid and assaulted in a moving car on the night of February 17 in Kochi.

The police had arrested Pulsar Suni, who had worked as a driver of many film personalities, six days after the incident. A letter which Suni purportedly wrote to Dileep had caused a furore. Dileep had undergone a marathon 13-hour grilling at the Aluva police club days ahead of his arrest.

The proceedings on Saturday were out of bounds for all as the court extended the remand period of the actor till September 28th, with Dileep appearing through video conferencing from the Aluva sub jail near here.

Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court posted for next week the anticipatory bail pleas of his actress-wife Kavya Madhavan and actor-director Nadhirshah.
