New Delhi: As Kerala celebrated Onam on Monday with all its traditional fervor and the spirit of joy, the US Embassy in India too decided to hop on to the festivities wagon and did it in the best traditional way possible.

All the employees at the embassy got together to celebrate Kerala's most important festival.

As ladies came dressed up in the traditional Kerala set mundu, gents chose mundu for the auspicious occasion. They joined hands to make a beautiful pookkalam (floral carpet) and the celebration came to a close as the revelers relished a traditional meal served on a banana leaf!

According to legend, Kerala had its golden period during the reign of king Mahabali as everyone was contended. Onam is celebrated to mark King Mahabali's annual visit to see his subjects.
