SC grants Madani permission to attend son's wedding in Thalassery

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Monday allowed PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani, facing trial in the 2008 Bengaluru serial blasts case, to visit Kerala to attend his son's wedding.

The apex court granted him permission to be in his home state from August 7 to 14. However, the court said the PDP leader would pay for his security expenses.

Earlier, Madani, 51, had challenged the NIA court's order of July 24 declining him permission to attend his son's wedding function in Thalassery on August 9.

The trial court had allowed him to visit his ailing mother from August 1 to 7. However, the advocate said the same court had earlier given permission to Madani to visit Kerala during his daughter's wedding.

Madani is an accused in the 2008 Bangalore blasts, which killed one and injured 20 others.
