New Delhi: Three NDA MPs, including Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj, have lodged a police complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of "physical assault and incitement" during a scuffle at Parliament, according to an officer.
Thakur and Swaraj, accompanied by a TDP MP, visited the Parliament Street Police Station and submitted a written complaint.
“We have filed a complaint against Mr Rahul Gandhi for physical assault and incitement,” Thakur told reporters outside the police station.
The incident occurred earlier during a heated face-off between opposition and NDA MPs on the Parliament entry steps over the alleged insult to B.R. Ambedkar. The altercation reportedly left former minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi injured.
The BJP has accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing the senior MP, a claim the Congress leader has denied. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal further stated that BJP MP Mukesh Rajput was also injured in the scuffle.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to have personally called Sarangi and Rajput to enquire about their health following the incident.
A senior police officer confirmed receipt of the complaint and said the matter is under investigation.
