L.B.S. College of Engineering, Kasaragod, organised an inter-collegiate techfest named Teranis 2k19. Students from all over Kerala attended the two-day event hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology. An array of technical and non-technical events were held on the college campus.
Dyut Quiz Competition, with prize money worth Rs 10,000, was the first event. Other exciting competitions, including Dance war, Rubix puzzle solving contest, face-painting competition and many more, were also held.
Cultural events were staged as the technical fest concluded on Saturday evening.
Ahead of the event the computer science department was abuzz with the excitement and preparation. Students were seen busy planning the decoration.
The inaugural ceremony was held at the amphitheatre of administrative block on Friday. Departmental Secretary and tech-fest Coordinator Fazal Rahiman ZM gave the welcome speech. The Head of Computer Science Department, Dr. Smithamol MB, gave the presidential address, highlighting the importance and necessity of a tech-fest in an engineering college. It was followed by Principal Prof. Mohammed Shekkoor T lighting the ceremonial lamp. His inaugural address, which was lighthearted and humorous, elicited mirth among the audience.
“Without Practice, Learning is incomplete," advised the Principal, encouraging the students to actively take part in all the events.
The Principal awarded the Ram Nath Scholarship to students who excelled in studies. The scholarship was introduced last year in memory of Ram Nath, a brilliant student of third-year CS department, who passed away recently. Bony Emmanuel and K. Rahul, third year students, received the award.
UG Department Dean Dr. Praveen Kumar Kodoth, UG Student Affairs Dean Dr. Vinodu George and PG Dean Dr. Aboobacker Kadengal addressed the gathered students and gave their best wishes to the successful organisation of the techfest.
Prof. Sarith Divakar, assistant professor of the CSE dept. gave the vote of thanks.
