- Merge all the 14 district cooperative banks
- NABARD gives go-ahead, RBI raises apprehensions
Thiruvanathapuram: Kerala minister for cooperation Kadampally Surendran said that the state may announce the formation of the much-awaited Kerala Bank by August 17, the first day of the Malayalam month Chingam.
The proposed endeavour aims to merge all the 14 district cooperative banks with the state cooperative bank.
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development(NABARD), the apex development financial institution in India, has no reservations on the proposed bank, said the minister.
The concerns raised by the Reserve Bank is being responded to constructively and a team headed by the state finance secretary had met an RBI deputy governor last week to discuss the modalities.
A second meeting has been slated for later this week, Surendran said.
