From biryani to barbeque, halwa to waffle, this year's edition of the Kottayam Food Fest is all set to bring an array of mouthwatering dishes to the land of letters. Set to commence on Wednesday at Nagampadom, the four-day-long fair will host stalls by leading restaurateurs, bakers and entrepreneurs.
The Food Fest will be held at the Nagampadom ground from January 24 to 28, where 22 stalls and 28 food corners will serve over 300 varieties of mouth-watering dishes. While the stalls would offer regular cuisine, items such as juice, cakes and snacks would be available at the food corners.
Organised by Rubber Town Round Table 121, the event will be inaugurated by District Collector V Vigneshwari at 6.30 pm on Wednesday.
American, Arabic, Chinese, Thai and Iranian are among the foreign cuisines that visitors can taste at the festival. In addition, there would be stalls where regional delicacies from Kuttanad and Kumarakom are available.
A food court at the venue could accommodate 1,000 people at a time, said the organisers. Free parking facilities are arranged at the Nagampadom ground and the indoor stadium, they added.
Apart from the food outlets, 12 stalls will be set up by vehicle dealers at the venue.
The entry fee is Rs 100 per person and the timings are from 4 pm to 10.30 pm.
The event is being organised as a fund-raiser for Parechal Round Table School, an institution for differently-abled children.
The valedictory function of the event will be inaugurated by legislator from Kottayam Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, said Rubber Town Round Table 121 chairman Cyril Francis, treasurer Anson Allen, Food Fest conveners Vivek Thomas and Stevin Joseph.
