Kozhikode: The city’s restaurants are turning the Ramadan fast breaking into a celebration. Malabar’s signature dishes and savories are the ones that are most in demand. There are even restaurants experimenting with Arabic cuisine. All prominent restaurants have lined up _Iftar_ buffets and _Iftar_ kits. The _Iftar_ buffet at Garlic Roots restaurant on YMCA Road comes at a price of Rs 490. The buffet consists of four snacks including meat _pathiri, unnakkaya_, two juices, fruits, _karakka, tharikkanji_, four non-vegetarian dishes, biriyani, ghee rice and dessert. A snack counter is separately set up. Here you get _muttamala, muttasurkha_, stuffed _kallummakkaya, thenkasivada_, cutlet and _tharippola_. For Rs 190, you get an _Iftar_ kit consisting of fruits and snacks. An economy meal can be bought for Rs 160. This consists of _tharikkanji_, snacks, fruits, _karakka_, juice, bread and non-vegetarian curry. The buffet comprising three non-vegetarian dishes, fruits, juice, _tharikkanji, pathiri_ and dessert at the Hotel Hison Heritage on Bank Road is priced at Rs 450. The rate for _Iftar_ buffet at Hotel Marina Residency on YMCA Cross Road is Rs 425. Malabar dishes are given more prominence here. Coconut powder and meat _puttu_ adorn the buffet too. The buffet spread at Hotel Paramount Tower on Town Hall Road consists of four non-vegetarian dishes, five snacks, juice, _tharikkanji_, biriyani, _pathiri_ and dessert, and costs Rs 430. _Meen mulakittathu, meen kurumulaku curry, kozhi curry, kozhi kurumulaku_ and _kozhi musman_ are the _Iftar_ special dishes at Curry House on Vaikom Muhammed Basheer Road. The Lighthouse on Thondayad bypass serves an _Iftar_ kit of Arabic snacks, _karakka_, fruits and juice. The price is Rs 180. The sights of breaking the fast and friendly treats transported to the restaurants around the place can be seen everywhere.
