Anchor-turned-actress Pearle Maaney conquered Malayali hearts with her charm and unique style. An ardent foodie, the dynamic artist revealed that ethnic fare is her favourite food, though she relishes varied cuisines. “I am a foodie, though I may not look like one. I like to try out different flavours and cuisines, especially when I am travelling abroad,” says Pearle.

She says, “Cheera thoran and curd is my favourite combination. I love dosa. Whenever dosa is made at home for dinner, all of us gather as at a 'thattukada'. My mother will keep on making dosa and we will keep on eating it. I can easily eat 7–8 dosas at one go.”

Pazhankanji or leftover rice gruel from previous night is another favourite dish of the young actress. “Sometimes when I wake up late, my mother would serve me leftover rice gruel garnished with some crushed bird's eye chilli (kanthari), shallots and a bit of fish gravy. It is delicious,” says Pearle.

“I live in a joint family. The kitchen is ruled by my mother and my aunt. Occasionally, when my mother compels, I would enter kitchen to experiment with some ‘mixing’. I like to make ‘Pearle special’ food items by mixing different types of spices and powders. But since everyone else loves their dear life, it is I who usually finish those dishes,” laughs Pearle about her cooking experiments.

Dieting

Pearle is not someone who would give up her favourite food in the name of dieting. She says people should stay happy by eating whatever they like. “Everyone has different physical features. Some may put on weight even if they don’t eat much, and some others may stay slim even if they gorge on food. It is important to enjoy whatever you eat,” signs off Pearle.
