The year 2024 is coming to a close. Apart from delivering some massive blockbusters, Mollywood has churned out some of the best music compositions in India this year, some of which went on to become pan-Indian hits. Here's a look at some of the most popular songs, that rocked the music scene in 2024.
'Illuminati'
This song composed and sung by Sushin Shyam and Dabzee is easily the mos popular release of the year in Mollywood. The song's energetic and upbeat vibe, interesting music choreography and the fun, humorous lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar, that lent an extra appeal to the lead character's larger-than-life image made it an instant hit among youngsters.
Kanmani Anbodu
This song originally composed by Illaiyaraja and sung by Kamal Hassan and S Janaki for the movie 'Guna' was reintroduced in the blockbuster 'Manjummel Boys' as a tribute to the 1991 film. The placement of the song, the nostalgic vibe and the aesthetic beauty of the song resonated well with the present generation, who received the song well along with the movie.
Nyabagham
Nyabhagam remains a favourite from the list of songs composed by Amrit Ramnath for 'Varshangallkku Sesham' directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan. Amrat is the son of legendary singer Bombay Jayashri who wrote the lyrics of the song. Interestingly, Nyabhagam was written by Jayashri as she was recuperating on her sick bed. Amrit too composed most of the songs for the film while attending to his mother in a hospital in the UK.
Eyy Banane
The song from the movie 'Vaazha: Biopic of a Biopic of a Billion Boys,' immediately went viral post the film's release. The catchy tune composed by Electronic Kili with lyrics written by Vinayak Sasikumar made it a people favourite with the song trending on social media for weeks.
Sthuthi
This number from Amal Neerad's film 'Bougainvillea' made headlines, both for its energetic dance numbers, powerful vocals and the lyrics, which sparked controversy after the Syrian Malabar Church alleged that it hurt religious sentiments. The song was added at the end of the movie and captured the mood of the story well.
