2019 Pongal offers a celestial phenomenon hitherto unknown to Kollywood as Thalaivar Rajinikanth will face Thala Ajith for the first time at box office.
Ajith's 'Viswasam', a postponed Diwali 2018 release, would meet Rajinikanth's 'Petta', which boasts a stunning cast like Vijay Sethupathi, Simran, Trisha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, M. Sasikumar and Bobby Simha.
The Durai vs Kaali contest will be a thrilling one as both Rajini and Ajith films are known for their massive opening day collection. However, the overlap of fans base would make sure that it remains a friendly match unlike the Thala-Ilayathalapathy (Vijay) face off.
'Viswasam' has taken the first round by topping on YouTube trending chart. Thala fans are celebrating the New Year gift from their icon in a grand way. The trailer of 'Viswasam' was launched on New Year's eve. And within 24 hours of its release, the trailer claimed the top spot on the trending chart garnering over 15 million views.
The trailer of Karthik Subbaraj directorial 'Petta', which was released on December 27, could only rake in 16 million views since its publishing and is placed sixth on the chart on Tuesday.
Director Siva has packaged 'Viswasam' with all elements needed in an Ajith movie to make it a Thala 'kondattam' (celebration) for the fans. Nayanthara is the lead lady in the movie, which has rural vs urban clash as theme.
In 'Viswasam', Ajith is Thooku Durai from Koduvularpatti, a village in Theni. Durai is a man of people, and going by the trailer, he could go to the extend of giving his life for their cause.
Ajith is seen in two makeovers in the trailer and the grey version looks uber cool.
Siva has brought in Jagapathi Babu against Ajith's Durai and they are seen going all out against each other in the trailer making the affair all the more thrilling. The trailer promises high-octane action sequences as expected from any Ajith movie.
Keeping in mind the family viewers, Siva has lined up Kovai Sarala, Vivek, Thambi Ramiah, Yogi Babu, and Robo Shankar in 'Viswasam'.
Gather your sunglasses, the forecast is a stellar collision.
