House of veteran actress Kaviyoor Ponnamma ruined in floods

This September 10, veteran actress Kaviyoor Ponnamma will turn 72 years. But unlike her birthdays every year, this time she is unlikely to celebrate as life has turned upside down for her.

Born in Kaviyoor village, near Thiruvalla, the actress had stayed in Chennai for 37 years, and later shifted to Aluva. But the recent rains and floods in the state badly hit her house 'Sreepadam' near the river here. While the first floor of her house was completely submerged, all her valuable household stuff was lost. The sad part is that she even lost her awards and certificates.

Dubbing artiste Bhagyalaskhmi had shared a few pics from the flood-hit house of the actor.

Ponnamma started acting in dramas when she was 14 years, starting off with 'Mooladhanam' of Thoppil Bhasi. After five years, came her first movie 'Kudumbini', in which she did the title role of the mother of two kids. She has mainly acted as a mother figure to most Malayalam stars.
