Kottayam: Reconstruction works on the Jubilee Park in Kottayam town have begun after stalling in between.
Municipal chairperson P R Sona said the pending work would be completed soon.
Electric works, planting saplings, and setting up of play articles had earlier been left half way after works stopped midway likely owing to paucity of funds.
"New sanctions for fund cannot be issued now as the model code of conduct has come into effect ahead of the Pala bypoll. But these technical problems would not further delay the works. The contractors have been asked to carry on the works without worrying about the outstanding amount," the chairperson said.
The municipal chairperson and councillors visited the park, located at Nagampadam, on Friday and took stock of the situation. The work on the park was started after Rs 1.63 crore was allocated from Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA's asset development fund in 2014.
Jubilee Park is beside the LBS Road.
