Mortal remains of Malayali woman who died in Kuwait to be brought home on Sunday

The mortal remains of Malayali home nurse Jayakumari,52, who died in a road accident in Kuwait will be brought home on Sunday. Jayakumari, a resident of Velanpoyka, Kaithakode in Pavithreswaram panchayat, Kollam was hit by a vehicle while she was crossing the road on Wednesday. Jayakumari succumbed to injuries later in a hospital.

She was employed as a home nurse in Kuwait. She is survived by her parents Divakaran and Subhashini, her daughter Meethu and son-in-law Rahul. Jayakumari had been employed in Kuwait for more than a decade. She was staying with her sister Jalaja in Kuwait. She recently came home to attend the death anniversary of her son Mithun. Monish Kumar, a friend of Jayakumari, who is in Kuwait said that Jayakumari was on her way to visit a friend when the accident happened. 

" She finished her work and went to Al Farwaniyah to visit a friend. She was crossing the road when the accident happened. She called me in the morning and said we would have dinner together. When I called her later, the phone was switched off. We got panicked and started searching for her. By night, we received a call from a hospital, and later, her body was identified. She was like a mother to us and as a representative of Kollam unit of the Pravasi collective, she was very active," said Monish.

Her mortal remains will be kept at the hospital for her friends and colleagues to pay homage on Saturday and will be brought home by Sunday. Monish said that death certificate was received and all other formalities are being completed..
