Thalakottukara (Thrissur): An auto expo titled 'Agnichakra 2023', which was organised by the Mechanical Engineering department of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) here, showcased an array of vintage cars and superbikes for students.
“The major attraction of this year's event was the display of a number of latest automotive innovations, superbikes and vintage cars. This drew a larger crowd to the campus to enjoy this unique experience,” said Mayookh U M, a final-year B Tech Mechanical Engineering student and a Tech-Coordinator of Agnichakra.
“The college has been conducting this event for a long time and it was our batch's turn to amuse auto enthusiasts. The programme took three-months of planning and preps, with the students of our department being fully engaged in putting up a line up of vehicles to be displayed and competitions to be organised, finding sponsors and coordinating resource persons for workshops,” he said.
“We had tickets for industry experts, students' families and visitors who wanted to attend this programme,” Mayookh added.
While the first day of Agnichakra featured an exhibition of superbikes including Yamaha R1 and BMW S1000 RRR, a range of supercars such as Audi R8, BMW M4 and Ford Mustang were displayed on the campus on the concluding day.
“Both technical as well as extracurricular programmes such as Auto Quiz, Park the Car contest and photography competition were held on the sidelines for the students,” said Sreehari M Ravi, another final-year B Tech Mechanical Engineering student.
Exciting prizes awaited the winners. The two-day annual event was conducted on March 17 and 18.
