The UGC has instructed institutions to refund the fee of students whose graduate admission have been cancelled. If the instructions are not strictly followed, the institutions might stand the chance of the University approval getting revoked.

The students whose admissions have been cancelled before October 31st are eligible to get a full refund. If their admissions are cancelled before December 31 they are still eligible for a refund with a reduction of Rs 1000. Explaining the instructions UGC had sent a letter to the Higher Educational Institutions on August 2nd.

The instructions were given following students' complaints that many institutes aren’t reimbursing the admission fee. They have also warned that the institutions that don’t follow the instructions will have their grants revoked and recognition cancelled.

No cancellation charges

Since the results of the entrance exams like JEE-Main, NEET-UGC, along with this year’s National Graduate Entrance (CUETUG) got delayed a lot of students had found temporary admissions in various institutions. Taking these special circumstances into consideration UGC instructed that the admission fee and fee should be refunded to the students.
