New Delhi: The Supreme Court has accepted the Tamil Nadu Government’s demand that the admission for the undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Christian Medical College, Vellore, should be based on 50:50 proportion. Accordingly, the college management and the state government would conduct admission in 50% seats each.

Earlier, the college authorities and the government agreed to conduct the admission process as per this pattern.

Here is how the admission would now take place.

MBBS course: The admission to 50% seats would be conducted by the management. It would be based on the candidates’ performance in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test. Among this, 10% seats would be reserved for the wards of the college employees, based on their NEET score.

The admission to the remaining 50% seats would be done by the Tamil Nadu Government from the state merit list based on the NEET scores. Out of this general reservation policies have to be followed in 30% seats, while 20% seats would be allocated to Christian minority.

PG medical course: The college management can conduct admissions to 50% seats. In the remaining 50% seats, admission to 30% seats would be based on general reservation policies and 20% seats would be given to Christian minority.
