More graduate and post graduate seats to open in Kerala

Hundreds likely cleared Kerala varsity exams with extra moderation marks

Thiruvananthapuram: The number of graduate and post-graduate seats in all the universities in Kerala will be increased as it may be difficult for the aspiring candidates to enroll at institutions outside the state owing to the COVID-19 situation. An agreement regarding this was reached in a video conference of the vice-chancellors convened by minister K T Jaleel.

The classes for the new academic year would begin as online sessions in June itself.

The principals should have the details of the class schedules and the attendance details of the students who take part in the online sessions. The universities would inspect these records. Besides, the university authorities have been mulling over the possibilities of starting community radio channels.

The vice-chancellors of Kerala University, Mahatma Gandhi University, KTU, NUALS, Sree Sankaracharya University for Sanskrit, CUSAT, Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, University of Calicut and Kannur University attended the video conference.

Changes in exam patterns

The questions papers would be uploaded online and a system of question bank too would be adopted. Facilities would be made for the research scholars to conduct their open defence through video conferencing.

The conference also agreed to the proposal by the Mahatma Gandhi University to conduct the second-semester degree exams at the respective colleges using the question papers uploaded on the website. The valuation of the answer sheets too would be done at the colleges.
