Thrikkakara: The Govt Model Engineering College has become one among the only 12 campuses in Asia, to be selected for the Millennium Fellowship programme, conducted collaboratively by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and Millennium Campus Network (MCN).
The Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program that convenes, challenges, and celebrates student leadership for UN goals. This selective fellowship launched in 2018, positively impacted the lives of 393,449 people in 13 nations the same year, with the help of 402 Millennium Fellows, who collectively advanced all the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Over thousand campuses from 135 nations worldwide applied for the session this year, of which only 6% were selected to host 'Fellows for the Class of 2019.'
"Partnering with UNAI enables us to engage more students, providing a powerful framework to help them convene, take action, and elevate the important contributions they make. I congratulate these students for their bold commitment to strengthen community and help make UN goals a reality," shared Sam Vaghar, executive director and co-founder of MCN.
The Sustainable Development Goals that the Millenium Fellows of MEC have taken up are related to conflict resolution.
