Pazhassi Raja Tomb

A memorial to Kerala's 'lion king' Pazhassi Raja, who bravely fought the British, the tomb and museum in Wayanad showcase his weapons, paintings, letters, and more. It's located in Mananthavady town.

Kuthiramalika Palace

Kuthiramalika Palace

This 180-plus-year-old palace in Thiruvananthapuram has 122 wooden horses carved into its roofline and is a fine example of traditional Kerala architecture. It's located next to the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in East Fort.

Muziris region

A heritage region spread across Thrissur and Ernakulam districts, it has many ancient masjids, temples, synagogues, and excavation sites. The best site to check out is Kodungallur, which is 35 km from Kochi, where you can visit most of the above.

Bekal Fort

This 17th-century Arabian sea-facing fort, near Bekal Fort railway station, has also been the location of many movies, such as Bombay. It's adjacent to a scenic, calm beach.

Mattancherry Palace

The 470-year-old palace in Kochi, built by the Portuguese, has beautiful mural paintings, royal rooms, furniture and artifacts. It's about 13 km from Ernakulam.
