This 180-plus-year-old palace in Thiruvananthapuram has 122 wooden horses carved into its roofline and is a fine example of traditional Kerala architecture. It's located next to the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in East Fort.

This 17th-century Arabian sea-facing fort, near Bekal Fort railway station, has also been the location of many movies, such as Bombay. It's adjacent to a scenic, calm beach.
The 470-year-old palace in Kochi, built by the Portuguese, has beautiful mural paintings, royal rooms, furniture and artifacts. It's about 13 km from Ernakulam.
