Canada ends the practice of providing multiple-entry visas with long-term validity.
Immigration officers can now issue either single-entry or multiple-entry visas based on individual cases.
The validity period is also determined on a case-by-case basis.
The reason for the change is that PM Trudeau’s administration is facing criticism over high immigration levels, a housing shortage, and rising living costs.
Earlier, Canadian tourist visas had a maximum validity of up to 10 years, or until the expiry of the travel document or biometrics.
